Membership

Presenters at ACLA conferences must be current members of the American Comparative Literature Association. Membership forms can be found at the ACLA website at http://www.acla.org/. Membership application/renewal forms will also accompany conference pre-registration material, which will be sent out sometime around mid-November. In order to be listed in the conference program, please be sure to obtain/renew membership by 1 February 2001. (Exceptions may be made for participants not based in literature who attend the conference on a one-time basis. Please contact the ACLA Secretariat at info@acla.org for any such requests.)

ACLA membership fees are $50 for faculty (includes ICLA membership) and $25 for graduate students, for emeritus faculty, for part-time faculty and for post-graduate scholars who are currently unemployed (does not include ICLA membership). Joint membership in ACLA/ICLA for this category is $35.

Conference Registration

The ACLA 2001 registration fee is $75 for faculty members of the ACLA and $25 for graduate student members of the ACLA, if received by 1 March 2001; after that date, the registration fee is $90 for faculty and $35 for graduate students. Please note that the registration fee for non-members is $100.

Checks or money orders should be made out to the "University of Colorado" and should be returned with registration forms by regular mail to the following address:

Hotel Information

The main conference hotel is the Regal Harvest House near the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. A block of rooms has been set aside for conference participants and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, so please contact the hotel as early as possible.

The room rate for the period of the conference (the nights of Wednesday, 18 April through Saturday, 21 April 2001) is $96 per night, with up to quadruple occupancy. To make reservations, please telephone the Regal Harvest House at 1-800-545-6285 (toll free) or 1-303-443-3850 (fax: 1-303-443-1480). To receive the guaranteed room rate, participants must book their rooms no later than the cut-off date of Wednesday, 21 March 2001. When telephoning to make your reservations, please indicate that you are reserving rooms under the American Comparative Literature Association room block. It may also be possible to obtain the conference room rate for nights before and after the period of the conference. Inquiries should be addressed to the hotel management.

A smaller block of rooms has been set aside at The Broker Inn, also in Boulder. The room rate at The Broker Inn is $79 per night, single or double occupancy; and the cut-off date for conference room rates is Monday, 19 March 2001. To make reservations, telephone the hotel management at 1-800-338-5407 (toll free) (fax: 1-303-444-6444). Note that king-size beds are available for an extra $10 per night. When making reservations, please identify yourselves as attending the conference.

Though they do not offer special conference room rates, other hotels are available, including The Hotel Boulderado in the historic city center and a Marriott Hotel. Though more expensive than the two conference hotels, the former is within an 8-minute taxi ride and the latter is within a 3-minute walk of the Regal Harvest House.

A number of attenders have requested a conference list in order to contact other attenders interested in sharing transportation or hotel room costs. To access this list, send an email message to listproc@lists.colorado.edu, leaving the subject line blank, and with this message in the body of the email: subscribe acla-info your full name (example: subscribe acla-info John J. Jones).

As ACLA 2001 approaches, the room blocks at the two main hotels, the Regal Harvest House and the Boulder Broker Inn, are rapidly filling up. (As of this writing, the Regal Harvest House room block is full, though they may still be taking reservations at the non-conference rate.)
