This panel aims to compare flows of migration, broadly conceived, in and around Asia. Migration includes international migration, for instance, South-East Asians or Arabs migrating to countries in the GCC, or South Koreans moving to Japan. Instances of internal migration from rural to urban areas are also welcome. We seek papers exploring the social, cultural, linguistic, literary, racial, economic, or environmental impacts of such migration. These include literary representations of cultural flows, diaspora, “brain drain”, asylum, persecution, living conditions, environmental degradation, waste dumping and toxicity, war, climate change, and so on.
