Welcome to the 2026 paper proposal portal! Please read the guidelines below before submitting your proposal.
- All paper proposals must be received by Thursday, October 2.
- Each person may submit only one paper for consideration. If you have proposed a seminar, you may submit a paper to your own seminar but not to a different seminar.
- You'll want to write your abstract with a particular seminar in mind. You can browse all proposed seminars at acla.org/seminars to find something that fits your interests. When you've selected a seminar, click the "Propose a Paper" button on that seminar to access the form.
- All papers must be submitted through the ACLA website. We will not consider papers emailed to us or emailed to seminar organizers, even if emailed before the deadline. If a seminar organizer asks you to email a proposal directly to them or provides you with a different deadline, please follow the official ACLA guidelines or we will be unable to consider your paper for inclusion in the program.
- Seminar organizers who plan to present a paper must also use this portal to submit their planned paper to their own seminar.
- We do not require you to send us a full version of your conference paper.
- Papers are limited to two authors.
- ACLA does not publish conference papers, but you're welcome to seek out publication on your own.
- Submitting a paper here does not guarantee acceptance of your paper to the 2026 Annual Meeting. The organizer of the seminar to which you are submitting your paper will review your submission, then the ACLA Program Committee will review all seminar proposals and papers. The ACLA Secretariat will notify everyone who submitted seminar and paper proposals of acceptance or rejection on December 1, and we're unable to share updates on the status of your proposal before that point.
Please note: As a participant, you agree to:
- Be current in ACLA membership and registered for the Annual Meeting by 9 a.m. EST on January 23, 2026.
- Reply promptly to all requests for information from the seminar organizer and the ACLA Secretariat, including requests for final program copy.
- Attend all sessions of your seminar.
- Notify the Secretariat immediately if you are unable to attend the conference.
- Communicate all special requests to seminar organizer and the Secretariat so as to ensure that they are considered.
- Add [email protected] to your list of "safe senders" in your email account, ensuring that email communications will be delivered.
