The Association of Departments and Programs in Comparative Literature (ADPCL) is pleased to announce the launch of a new annual award recognizing programmatic and curricular innovation in World and Comparative Literature. The purpose of this award is to provide an international platform for the identification of best practices and for showcasing innovation in world and comparative literary studies in the specific areas of:
A. Student Success
especially in experiential learning, global engagement, professionalization and career outcomes in academia and beyond, as well as excellence in equity, diversity, and inclusion of underrepresented voices.
B. Public/Community Engagement
examples might include social and multi-media projects, podcasts, public humanities, and community outreach.
C. Collaboration
in comparative, trans-disciplinary and trans-institutional research, programming, and pedagogy.
D. Thriving in the Age of Existential Adversity
through program and funding development, continuance and survival of academic opportunities.
These non-monetary annual awards will be announced and presented in the form of certificates at the awards ceremony during the annual convention of the American Comparative Literature Association.
Timeline for the AY2025-2026 cycle:
-Friday, October 31, 2025: submission deadline for entering the award competition.
-February 26 – March 3, 2026: awards announced and presented during the Annual Conference of the American Comparative Literature Association.
Application Materials. Each (self-) nomination consists of two components:
1. Submission Form (see below) with information regarding initiative overview and description, stakeholders and target audience, as well as initiative mission and goals.
2. Documentation of success (statistical data, testimonials, letters, news items, etc.), to be submitted as a single PDF file.
Complete the submission form and provide documentation of success by October 31, 2025.
