This study attempts to explore the process of narrative construction and the politics involved with this. The study draws upon the digital political discourse and manufactured narratives to study and analyze Hanif’s novel The Rebel Academy.The researcher investigates the shaping of collective consciousness and regulation of dissent through institutional power operating largely via language, repetition, controlled communication, and surveillance. As such the study focuses   on as to how the contemporary political realities are shaped by employing media manipulation, algorithmic persuasion, and ideological polarization, even when the novel is limited to the space of an academy. The study also draws upon Critical Discourse Analysis and Digital Media Studies to develop the argument that in the novel the academy performs the role of a metaphorical ideological apparatus where the process of legitimization bases itself on the official truths to suppress the alternative voices. Hence the study assesses the extent to which discourse, surveillance, and hyperreality are employed in the novel to shape political subjectivities. The use of satire, irony and absurdity by the writer challenges the institutional narratives and the normalization of fear and obedience. The contemporary times depend on digital political culture of hostages, viral media, algorithmic filtering and emotional rhetoric to construct institutional discourses which in turn influence the processes of democracy and public opinion. This makes the novel to anticipate the morphing of political communication into manipulative system and hence the novel is positioned as a critique of narrative power which suggests that in this digital age critical literacy and intellectual resistance are essential tools to understand the institutional narrative power.
